Founded in 2015 by Justin Amorim, Promenade is an independent audiovisual production company based in Lisbon, Portugal, focused on producing content for film and television. Since its inception, Promenade’s primary commitment has been to produce content that embodies youth, irreverence, inclusion, representation, diversity, and progressive ideologies, breaking away from traditional canons.

In a constant search for new voices and authors in the Portuguese audiovisual landscape, a significant portion of our projects are queer and address issues faced by younger generations, as well as current social and economic issues, always seeking to give visibility to minorities. A large part of our narratives also feature female characters, and a significant number of the authors we collaborate with are women. This particular desire to bring about a paradigm shift through Promenade’s stance has led us to produce the first Portuguese fiction series with a completely LGBTQIA+ narrative, #CasaDoCais, which has already amassed over 1.5 million views to date. More recently, we launched 5Starz, the first Portuguese series featuring a transgender character, portrayed by a transgender actress. It is in this vein that we want to continue moving forward.

Our projects have been presented and awarded in various development labs, co-production markets, and film festivals around the world, including the Cannes Film Festival, Torino Film Lab, Ventana Sur, Locarno Film Festival, San Francisco International Film Festival, Ann Arbor Film Festival, Tallinn Black Nights Festival, Thessaloniki International Film Festival, Torino International Film Festival, Mediterranean Film Institute, IndieLisboa – International Film Festival, Brussels International Film Festival, among others.

Promenade’s international trajectory is also the result of the dissemination of its works through distributors, broadcasters, and streaming platforms such as RTP, HBO, Amazon, Disney+, Filmin, NOS Audiovisuais, and Nowness, with coverage from various national media outlets such as Diário de Notícias, Observador, MAG Sapo, Jornal Económico, Sábado, Cinema7Arte, TVI, RTP, Gerador, Time Out, À Pala de Walsh, Jornal de Notícias, Correio da Manhã, Público, Agência Lusa, Comunidade Cultura e Arte, Revista Parq, Porto Canal, Visão, NiT, TSF, Expresso, Solo, among others, as well as international outlets such as Screen Daily, Cineuropa, O Globo, Filmmaker Magazine, La Stampa, Vogue, Variety, GQ, Cahiers du Cinéma, and others.
